Schakel: Koppelingen Between Sales Channels and Tools
Schakel is what happens when you solve the same problem three times and finally admit it’s one product. It started as three separate tools I built for webshop owners: BolSync for Bol.com to Shopify, MoneybirdSync for Shopify to Moneybird, and BolMoneybird for Bol.com straight into the books. They all did the same kind of thing, so I rebranded and merged them into Schakel.
The problem they all solve is that the tools people sell with don’t talk to the tools people do their admin with. If you sell on Bol.com and Shopify at the same time, two customers can buy your last item at once and someone gets a cancellation email. If you sell anywhere and do your books in Moneybird, you’re copying numbers over by hand at the end of every month.
The part that took the most work wasn’t the happy path, it was everything after it. Returns that come in after the invoice is already sent, partial shipments, cancelled orders, cross-border VAT. Get any of those wrong and you’re not saving someone time, you’re quietly breaking their bookkeeping. So every sync is idempotent, and there’s a reconciliation pass that compares actual state on both sides instead of just trusting that all the webhooks arrived.
It’s a monorepo now, with the three apps sharing one Bol.com API client and one set of components. Everything runs on Cloudflare, which keeps the cost per customer close to nothing.
